Licensing, Design, Illustration & Graphics
For the past thirty years images of Sara's work have been licensed for use on hundreds of products in both the non-profit and for-profit worlds. She has a library of nearly 1,000 images available for use, and also adapts her work for particular uses using details and colorways.
Industries for which she has licensed products include stationary, giftware, accessories, home furnishings and fashion. She has created book jackets and covers for numerous publishers including Viking, Harper, and Jeremy Tarcher, as well as university and small presses. Her work has been used as interior book illustrations and for music CD covers. In collaboration with writers she has designed chapbooks and broadsides.
Steele has also created premiums, and graphics for fund-raising, messaging, branding and marketing, with an emphasis on the non-profit world. Since 1979 she has designed well over a hundred posters and scores of other graphics. The unique design of her annual wall calendar, incorporating Chinese calligraphy and poetry, is copyrighted.
